Acclaimed as ‘one of the great success stories in the difficult climate of modern academic publishing,’ Liverpool University Press (LUP) is a recent winner of both The IPG Frankfurt Book Fair Academic and Professional Publisher of the Year and The Bookseller Independent Academic, Educational and Professional Publisher of the Year awards. The Press has emerged as among the most vibrant and dynamic of university presses, reflecting the commitment to excellence of the University of Liverpool. We are now looking to add at least one non-executive director to the Board of LUP.

The vacancy arises following the death of the Press’s long-standing non-executive Chair, David Attwooll.
As well as senior level experience in academic publishing, the new non-executive director(s) should have significant experience of at least two of the following: digital publishing, university presses, small academic publishing businesses, global sales, finance, intermediaries and supply chain, new business models, Humanities and Social Science journals.
The Press will pay an annual honorarium of £4000 plus standard travel for meetings in Liverpool. The Board meets on a quarterly basis, with occasional emails in the interim. The appointment is for three years in the first instance.
