Abstract

Uno de los rasgos más destacados de El invierno en Lisboa, de Antonio Muñoz Molina es su particular tratamiento del jazz. Este estudio pretende ahondar en la interacción entre música y literatura que dicha novela plantea bajo una nueva perspectiva proveniente de los estudios músico-literarios actuales. A tal efecto, propongo una interpretación del texto como amplificatio del jazz en la que se enmarcan toda una serie de rasgos producto de esta imitación. En este planteamiento resulta también fundamental Como la sombra que se va, novela del año 2014 en la que Muñoz Molina teje una reflexión metaliteraria sobre la creación de El invierno en Lisboa. Todo ello implica una lectura intermedial que pasa por ampliar el marco hermenéutico del texto y desarrollar una lectura de la novela como proyección de las cualidades y efectos que el autor le atribuye al jazz.

One of the most prominent features of Antonio Muñoz Molina’s El invierno en Lisboa is the salient role that jazz music plays throughout the novel. This article aims to explore this topic under new perspectives developed in music and literature studies. To that effect, we propose to consider the text as an amplification of jazz in which transmedial elements are imitated. Also Como la sombra que se va, the 2014 novel in which Muñoz Molina constructs a metaliterary reflection on El invierno en Lisboa’s writing process, is an essential source for this approach. All this finally leads to an intermedial reading that tries to widen the interpretation of the novel as a result of the hallmarks and effects the author attributes to jazz.
