THE EARTH IS THE LORD’S: THE ETERNAL COVENANT

Modern Believing (2013), 54, (4), 312–317.

Abstract

The biblical account of the creation, its relation to the LORD the Creator, and the role of humanity within it—the eternal covenant—unfolds throughout the Hebrew Bible and New Testament. In particular, the Temple and its worship represent the relationship of God and creation and the priestly role of humanity (Adam). The seventh day of Sabbath rest confirms that creation is complete and ‘very good’: it forms a sustainable harmonious state. To recognize this is true wisdom; by contrast, false knowledge deceives into disrupting the harmony, as in the drive for Market growth. This is sin and breaks the eternal covenant.
