The Why as Well as the What: Christians Should Always Aim to Ask all the Questions
Abstract
Jesus gives us an example and we attempt to follow. Social action to address wrongs and to speak out for the poor is vital; but is it enough, and what happens when society is not willing to notice what is happening? Christians have a prophetic as well as a pastoral responsibility. Foodbanks are a marvellous response to real need, but must not remain forever. How can we both help those in need and speak out against some of the systemic issues that are hard to articulate, and so complicated that we are often fearful? The Inquiry into Foodbanks is one way to attempt to articulate the questions.
