The Dilemmas We Face Today: Assisted Dying, Life, Death, Technology and Law
Abstract
Ethical debates on controversial issues often prove intractable because society's dominant discourse contains unrecognised contradictions, producing blind spots of which few are aware. The article argues that the current debate about assisted dying is hindered by four blind spots: the sanctity of life, the spookiness of death, the cult of technology and the tension between ethics and law.
