Abstract
This article examines the legal contract for the double effigy monument to George and his wife Mary Curzon at Kedleston Church, Derbyshire (1908–13). It was made between Lord Curzon and the sculptor Bertram Mackennal. The contract is reproduced and the circumstances surrounding it are examined. The article then examines the extent to which the contract was adhered to by sculptor and patron.
