Abstract

Wan Guoding (1897–1963) was a prominent agricultural historian who also led the way in library science and indexing in China. This article discusses his achievements with particular reference to his contribution to the Index Movement, the New bridge (xinqiao) dictionary, the Agriculture index, and to development of indexing teaching, research into index theory, and the promotion of indexing in general.
