Indexing political memoirs: neutrality and partiality

The Indexer: The International Journal of Indexing (2012), 30, (3), 125–130.

Abstract

Indexes to political memoirs may display bias, either by developing the attitudes of the author, or by the intrusion of the indexer’s opinions. Alan Walker describes various types of bias, and their causes, and argues for professional indexers to use a neutral, indicative indexing style.
